Tom Middleton
On the 15th December 2000, Tom and his passenger Craig Higgins were killed in a Pitts Special at Wanaka Airport. Since then so many people from all walks of life have felt a total sense of loss as they miss Tom's cheeky smile, reassuring voice, and his total love of life itself. It is a void that will never be filled.
Tom was an outstanding pilot with a lifelong love of vintage aircraft, but that is not what we miss. He had a special brand of humanity, some would call it a sense of friendship and thoroughgoing decency, that magnetically drew friends.
If you were a friend of Toms you were a friend for life. He was a friend who asked for nothing other than friendship. He was 100% genuine in everything he said and did....
