Memories of a first reading of The Lord of the Rings

At the age of 14, reading The Lord of the Rings was a magical experience that transported my mind. This first reading coincided with a visit to Tongariro National Park and a chance walk to these falls that convinced me that New Zealand was Middle-earth.
I return as often as I can to visit Henneth Annun, remember my journey and be thankful for Tolkien and all he has bought to my life.

This has to be one of the most inspired locations from The Lord of the Rings films. One can just imagine the fortress tower of the Hornburg, impregnable, with the great horn of Helm Hammerhand blasting and echoing amongst the mountains.
